Read and listen to the poem: Alberello di Edward Estlin Cummings
It's Christmas: what's better than a soft and relaxing poem about our beloved Christmas tree?
Let's read together:
Sapling
silent little Christmas tree
you are so small
you are more like a flower
Who found you in the green forest
and were you very sorry to come away?
See that I will console you
because you smell so sweet
I will kiss your fresh bark
and hug you safe and tight
just like your mother would,
just don't be afraid
Look at the glitter
who sleep all year round in a dark box
dreaming of being pulled out and left to shine,
the balls the red chains and golden soft threads,
Raise your little arms
and I will give them all to you to keep
each finger will have its own ring
and there will not be a single dark or unhappy place
then when you are dressed enough
you will be standing in the window for everyone to see
and how they will look!
oh but you will be very proud
e io e la mia sorellina ci prenderemo per mano
and looking at our beautiful tree
we will dance and sing
