commentary on today's Gospel of John 12,44-50

I enter the text (Jn 12,44-50)

At that time, Jesus exclaimed: «Whoever believes in me does not believe in me but in him who sent me; whoever sees me sees the one who sent me. I came into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me will not remain in darkness.

If anyone listens to mine words and he does not observe them, I do not condemn him; because I have not come to condemn the world, but to save the world.

Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words has someone who condemns him: the word that I have spoken will condemn him on the last day.

For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to speak and what I should say.

And I know that his commandment is eternal life. Therefore, the things that I say, I say just as the Father has said them to me."

I get inspired

Close your eyes, imagine yourself in a forest.

Your steps are heavy, the fear of the unknown hardens the heart. Shortness of breath. Shaky legs. Chest rising too quickly. Everything becomes distant. The vision becomes blurred, nothing is clearer.

Yet precisely in that stormy moment and devoid of any indication, the Light of hope lights up.

The breaths become deeper.

Faith is saving you. Like a river of new water, it brings life back to your body. Your heart smiles because it knows it has never been alone.
