Ci sei sempre tu nei miei sogni, Eugenio!

I dreamed that one day you had pushed me in a wheelchair, now old and without strength, with a beard even grayer than it is today.

And instead it's me, today, who pushes you with the wheelchair, anche in giro per casa.

I dreamed that you had helped me pee, so that my now decrepit prostate would no longer help its functions.

And instead I'm the one who also helps you clean yourself, in the bathroom as during meals, because you don't have the strength and coherence of movements to do this.

Sognavo che almeno una volta a settimana mi venissi a trovare nell’ospizio dove avevi deciso di farmi trascorrere gli ultimi anni della mia vita.

Ed invece sono qui, io, a vederti dormire, mentre insieme aspettiamo una carezza, una goccia di miele, una luce di speranza, un alito di freschezza, a kiss of love.
