Today, like yesterday and like tomorrow, we remember in our prayers Eugene and all those who fought strenuously against this terrible disease. We pray for those who still struggle.

In our prayers we must also add all the parents, all the families, all the relatives who are around the sick person: Francesca, Giuseppina and I have also been ill, because we have faced a thousand difficulties, a thousand vicissitudes, pain, suffering, discomfort.

And around us many relatives, friends, who supported and encouraged us in the most diverse forms and ways.

The illness does not belong only to those who carry it inside, but to all those who suffer around the sick person.

This is why this disease, like all diseases, can only be defeated with union, brotherhood, cohesion, love.

Just like when it rains, illness, discomfort and suffering sooner or later affects everyone.

And this is why we can and must dedicate more time and resources to donating.

We can and must donate time: let's spend a few extra minutes visiting a friend of ours, an acquaintance or our grandfather, who is facing illness or, even worse, loneliness.

Today technology and information technology help us in this particular period, giving us tools to use for these purposes.

Let's give time to listening, understanding, dialogue: this is true."social".

We can and must donate resources: let's dedicate our resources to research, to science, to community, to love, so that we can experience the disease better, and finally find the way to defeat it.

Our resources can be both economic and physical.

With financial donations we can support doctors, researchers and scientists who study day and night how to prevent and defeat this disease.

Even our small donation, together with a thousand other small donations, create the enormous piggy bank from which to draw funds for research and treatment.

With donations, spaces can be built where patients can live their period of hospitalization with dignity, and where parents and relatives find welcome and love, even far from their homes and their loved ones.

With financial donations, spaces can be created in memory of the warriors, where their memory generates love and sharing.

In addition to economic resources, our physical resources can also help.

There are many sick people who have no way of reaching places of treatment: we offer them the possibility, as best we can, of reaching the hospital or clinic where they can carry out the necessary treatments.

Many sick people don't even have a way to get the medicines for their treatment: here we are available to do this for them.
