send to us from heaven
a ray of your light.
Come, father of the poor,
You come; giver of gifts,
come, light of hearts.
perfect comforter,
sweet guest of the soul,

In fatigue, rest,
in the heat, shelter,
in tears, comfort.
O most blessed light,
invade inside
the hearts of your faithful.
Without your strength,
nothing is in man,
nothing without fault.
Wash away what is sordid,
wet what is dry,
heal what bleeds.
Bend what is rigid,
warm what is cold,
straighten out what has gone astray.
Donate to your faithful
who trust only in you
your holy gifts.
Give virtue and reward,
give holy death,
gives eternal joy. Amen.
