Let's read and listen to the tale of the big-mouthed frog

Curious

Frogs are fascinating amphibious creatures that have populated our planet for over 300 million years. With over 4,000 different species, they adapt to a variety of habitats, from tropical rainforests to arid desert areas.

Here are some interesting facts about frogs:

Appearance and physiology:

  • Frogs have smooth, moist skin, which helps them breathe and regulate body temperature.
  • They have protruding eyes that allow them to see in all directions.
  • The hind legs are long and strong, perfect for jumping and swimming.
  • Most frogs lay their eggs in water, where they hatch into tadpoles. Tadpoles have gills and a tail that they use for swimming, as they gradually develop into adult frogs.

Behavior and nutrition:

  • Frogs are carnivores and feed on insects, worms, snails and other small animals.
  • They hunt by using their long, sticky tongue to capture prey.
  • Some frogs are skilled jumpers, while others are excellent swimmers.
  • Communication occurs through a variety of vocalizations, such as croaks and trills.

Ecology and conservation:

  • Frogs play an important role in the ecosystem by preying on insects and serving as prey for other animals.
  • They are also indicators of environmental health, as their presence or absence can reflect water and habitat quality.
  • Unfortunately, frogs are threatened by a number of factors, including habitat loss, pollution, disease and climate change.

Curious facts:

  • Some frogs are poisonous, such as the South American poison dart frog, whose skin contains a potent venom used by indigenous peoples to poison arrows.
  • Other frogs have unusual abilities, such as the Southeast Asian flying frog which has webbed feet that allow it to glide between trees.
  • The largest frog in the world is the African Goliath frog, which can reach 30 centimeters in length and weigh up to 3.6 kilograms.

Frogs are fascinating and important creatures that deserve our attention and conservation efforts. By learning more about them, we can better appreciate their diversity and their vital role in our world.

Let's read together

Once upon a time, in a pond immersed in the heart of a swamp, there was a frog with an extraordinarily wide mouth. Unlike its peers who were content with insects and small creatures, the frog dreamed of swallowing something bigger, something that would truly make it stand out.

One day, bored by the monotony of her life on the pond, she decided to go on an adventure and explore the world beyond its shores. Leaping from leaf to leaf, she encountered a variety of animals: a dutiful ant carrying three times her weight, a brightly colored dragonfly fluttering among the flowers, and even a slimy snake hiding among the rocks.

Each encounter was a chance for the frog to open its mouth wide and fantasize about what it would be like to swallow the creature in one gulp. But every time, prudence held her back: she knew that she would not be able to digest such large prey and she only risked getting hurt.

Continuing his journey, the frog came to a wide and deep river. In the midst of the waters, she spotted a dragonfly even more beautiful than the one she had encountered before. Admired by her beauty, the frog opened his mouth as wide as possible, dreaming of catching her. But, in her excitement, she didn't notice a branch sticking out right above her.

With a dull splash, the frog fell into the river, being dragged by the current. As she struggled to the surface, she realized her folly. She had risked her life for a vain undertaking, driven by his greed and her vanity.

Thus he learned a valuable lesson: that true happiness is not found in possessing great things, but in appreciating what you have and living in harmony with the world around us.

Returning to his pond, the wide-mouthed frog stopped dreaming of impossible prey and was content with what nature offered him. Over time, he became a wise frog respected by all the inhabitants of the swamp, known for his kindness and common sense.

And so, the big-mouthed frog lived happily ever after, proving that greed and pride lead nowhere, while humility and wisdom are the true keys to a fulfilling life.
