Little Learn was just born from the beautiful Green Fairy, he had soft black hair and a cute, very contagious smile. That's right! If Learn smiled it was impossible not to reciprocate with an equally sweet smile.

From the first day Mother Fairy accompanied him to discover the undergrowth.

To begin with they went to find the Big Tree who as soon as he saw them exclaimed...

“Sweet Green Fairy, who is this splendid creature at your side?”
“It's my little Learn! “replied the Fairy who continued by saying…“Learn, meet the Great Tree, he is the wisest creature in all the undergrowth and, if you need him, he will always be ready to help you!”
“Of course little one…”said the old tree flattered…“I will be happy whenever I can help you.”

They went to visit Mother Nature, the great river, the sea and the mountains until they arrived at the Red and Green elves.

Learn was very happy with that beautiful journey into the undergrowth because he had made dozens of new friends and had met very nice frogs, elves and trolls.

He returned to his mushroom house thinking:

“I can't wait to get back into the undergrowth to play with my new friends! “

The next morning I jumped out of bed, had a hearty breakfast and greeted my mother the Green Fairy by saying...

“Hi mom, I'm going to play with my friends from the undergrowth! “

The caring Fairy replied…

“Have fun and come back for lunch.”

Learn arrived on the lawn and saw some elves who were playing with a ball of leaves and throwing it into a basket of intertwined branches.

He asked to play with them, but immediately realized that he couldn't even make a basket...

Learn felt inadequate for that game, and was sorry to be considered the worst.

For this reason he said goodbye and despite the goblins' insistence he left.

He was a little sad when he saw two trolls picking strawberries. The smile immediately returned to her face and she asked:

“Can I pick strawberries with you? “
"Certainly! “they said…“The important thing is that you only collect the ripe ones that you recognize because they are red, the others should not be collected.”

He took his basket and began his tour in search of succulent strawberries.

He immediately realized that it was not at all easy to find them red and ripe.

And so it was that when he saw that the others had picked twenty red strawberries and he had only two and also a little pale, he said...

“Thank you for letting me try, I feel unsuitable for this job, I'd rather leave.”

The two trolls tried to insist he stay, but he wouldn't listen to reason.

As he walked away from the strawberry field, a little sad, he realized that he was right next to the Big Tree, he reached it and sat down under its reassuring foliage.

The wise plant said:

“Learn, it's nice to see you, but what's with this sad face?”

The little boy, amazed by his great friend's wit, told what had happened to him that morning and how he had felt inadequate.

“Ah! “said the big tree“Your story reminds me a bit of when I was a little bush and summer came… I felt very hot and always had to wait for my older friends to shelter me from the sun because it could also dry me out.
Not only could I not fix others, but not even myself! I think I felt exactly like you, inadequate.
At that point the tree that shaded me saw that I was letting myself be dried by the sun's rays and told me...
No large, leafy tree became a tree without first being a leafless shrub like you! You have to persevere, face difficulties, commit and grow!
Since then I have never stopped learning and growing, I do it continuously, even now that more than a century has passed. Now there is no tree that casts more shade than me in the undergrowth and I know that in the future there will be many others that today are simple shrubs.”

Learn listened to the story of the Great Tree with great interest and went away with a great desire to try again.

He returned to playing basketball and picking strawberries and within a few months became very good at both activities.

And even if he became the best of all, he knew that he would continue to learn to improve himself and feel happy and satisfied.
