In the snow-covered woods of the North, lives a tribe of little goblins dressed in green, who live in tiny ice houses. The men call them Elves, which in an ancient language means “white beings”; in fact, the goblins have white beards and skin as pale as the moon.

What makes these little people most extraordinary is the power of the elves to appear wherever they want: they can move from one house to another in the blink of an eye and in three seconds they can cross five countries. The elves use their power to protect human beings: they enter the house without making any noise and keep guard, to keep evil demons away.

A long time ago, a man dressed in red entered the woods and reached the tiny village of the elves: he was Santa Claus, and he had been tasked with bringing gifts to all the good children.

Santa Claus looked for the grandfather of all the elves and said to him: “From this year on, I will bring a gift to each good child. The weather doesn't worry me: my sleigh is fast and the reindeer run like lightning. However, I need helpers who enter everyone's homes, who watch over the children and who tell me who should receive the gifts. Can you help me?".

The grandfather of all the elves called his grandchildren together and they discussed together; after three hours, he announced their decision: “The younger goblins have decided to help you. It will be an excellent exercise for them: they will learn to monitor men and enter their homes without being discovered."

More than a hundred elves left with Santa Claus. Since then, every three years the helpers return to their village and are replaced by other, younger goblins.

The little elves use their power to travel from house to house and carefully observe what happens, then write down in their notebook the names of the children who deserve a gift.
If they encounter a naughty child, they warn him by moving his toys here and there. It's a way of saying, “Hey, you! Look, we saw you; for this time we will turn a blind eye and not say anything to Santa Claus, but you make a commitment: you can do much better than this".

It is also said that some children have met their guardian elf: in fact, the most careless elves forget to roll in the invisible dust before leaving and so they are discovered!
