Read and listen to the tale of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”

This evening I have the immense pleasure of reading you a fairy tale from the portalebimbi.it portal titled “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Let’s read together

Once upon a time, there was a young reindeer; his name was Rudolph and he lived in the snowy expanses of Lapland with his brothers and sisters. Rudolph was a very special reindeer: in fact, he had a red nose, luminous like a lantern.

This gift, however, did not make him happy: the other reindeer did nothing but mock him and he would have much preferred a gray or brown snout like his brothers’. They called him “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and the poor thing burst into tears.

One day, after yet another trick, Rudolph left the herd: there was a very thick fog and he felt like being alone for a bit. It was Christmas Eve. As he crossed the snowy expanses, he heard some complaints:
“Only ten minutes until departure.”
“But how will we manage with this fog?”
“We’ll get lost, that’s for sure.”
“Poor children, they will be left without gifts…”

They were Santa Claus’s reindeer: they had left shortly before and were pulling the sleigh loaded with gifts, but they had had to stop because they couldn’t see the road.

Rudolph moved a little closer and the reindeer noticed his luminous nose, which lit up the road: “Look: there’s a light over there. But it’s a reindeer: a small reindeer with a luminous nose!”
“Hey, you!” they called him.
“Come here; we want to talk to you.”

Rudolph had no intention of talking; even less so with reindeer.
“No, thank you, I really don’t feel like it.”
At that moment, Santa Claus’s voice echoed in the fog.

“Good evening, young Rudolph; I am Santa Claus. My reindeer and I were wondering if you would like to join us: with this fog we cannot leave, but you could light the way for us with your luminous nose.”
Since he was little, Rudolph had always dreamed of joining Santa Claus’s reindeer; all reindeer dreamed of pulling his sleigh and entering history.

“Of course I’ll join you. And please excuse me for being rude earlier.”
That night, Rudolph became part of Santa Claus’s team: he became the ninth reindeer on the sleigh, the one who ran in front of the others, to illuminate the path. Thanks to his nose, his companions were able to glimpse the road through the fog and the sleigh left right on time.

Since then, no one makes fun of Rudolph for his nose anymore.
