People are skating on the Po
and its major tributaries.
The tail of a donkey
in Potenza is frozen.
The gondolas of Venice
are in bed with the flu.
A compassionate mountaineer
has left Turin
to place a cap
upon the peak of the Matterhorn (Cervino).
But where is, where is the magician
with the enchanted torch
to bring into every house
a warm flame?
