Eugenio loved sports, and particularly basketball.
Eugenio loved friendship, community life, and sharing.
Eugenio, with his life, with his 13-month struggle against illness, with his death at only 14 years old, showed us that only love heals, only love saves, only love gives peace.
Omnia vincit amor et nos cedamus amori (lit. “Love conquers all, let us too surrender to love“)
He illuminated the minds of his father Remigio, his mother Giuseppina, and his little sister Francesca: love must be transmitted, love must flow, love must build.
The Eugenio Ruberto non-profit Association, with the help of everyone—relatives, friends, supporters, sponsors, and anyone who believes in love—has this dream: the Eugenio Ruberto multi-sport center.
The concept
This concept is a socio-educational project aimed at training and educating young people through the creation of a space (the “Eugenio Ruberto” Multi-functional Center) which aims to become a site of social innovation founded on community development, where the community becomes an active part in the education of its young people.
This space is equipped with a multi-functional center featuring 576 seats where, in addition to sports practice (basketball and volleyball), numerous other activities can take place thanks to the presence of equipped areas to be used as workshops and gathering spaces.
In addition to the multi-functional center, there are 2 padel courts, one tennis court, one five-a-side
football (calcetto) field, and one equipped green area.
The project idea is to create a space that is inclusive both socially and territorially.
Indeed, from a territorial point of view, the intervention integrates into an existing context, addressing its shortcomings and developing its potential (Church, School, and ‘alifana’ stop).
In social terms, the new structure can also be considered an opportunity for neighboring communities.
The project
The project involves the definition of a large equipped multi-sport complex, characterized by the presence of various sports and recreational activities to support the local population and neighboring municipalities.
The center will be equipped with:
– Multi-functional Center;
– N°1 five-a-side football (calcetto) field;
– N°1 tennis court;
– N°2 padel courts;
– Recreational area with annexed services.
