First Reading

Della gloria del Gentleman sono piene le sue opere.

From the book of Sirach
Sir 42,15-26 (NV) [gr.42,15-25]

I will now remember the works of the Lord
and I will describe what I saw.

By the words of the Lord his works stand,
and his judgment is done according to his will.
The sun che risplende vede tutto,
his works are full of the glory of the Lord.

Neppure ai saints del Signore è dato
to narrate all its wonders,
che the Sir, l’Onnipotente, ha stabilito
for the universe to stand firm in its glory.

Egli scruta l’abisso e il heart,
and penetrate all their secrets.
The Most High knows all science
and observe the signs of the times,
announcing things past and future
and revealing the traces of the hidden ones.

No thought escapes him,
not even a word is hidden from him.
He has arranged the wonders of his wisdom in order,
he alone is forever and ever:
nothing is added to it and nothing is taken away from it,
he needs no adviser.
How lovely are all his works!

And barely a spark can be observed.
Tutte queste cose hanno life e resteranno per sempre
for all needs, and all obey him.
All things are two by two, facing each other,
he has done nothing incomplete.
The one confirms the merits of the other:
who will be satisfied with contemplating his glory?

A. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made.

Praise the Lord with the lyre,
with the ten-string harp sung to him.
Sing to the Lord a new song,
artfully play the cithara and acclaim. R.

Perché retta è the word del Signore
and every work of his is faithful.
Egli ama la giustizia e il diritto;
dell’amore del Signore è piena la terra. R.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
from the breath of his mouth every host of them.
Come in un otre raccoglie le acque del sea,
closes the abyss in reserves. R.

Fear the Lord all the earth,
tremino davanti a lui gli abitanti del world,
because he spoke and everything was created,
he commanded and all was accomplished. R.

Jesus heals Bartimaeus: The Word of June 1, 2023 — *Jesus heals Bartimaeus*

Mk 10.46-52

In quel tempo, mentre Gesù partiva da Gèrico insieme ai suoi disciples e a molta crowd, il son di Timèo, Bartimèo, che era cieco, sedeva lungo la strada a mendicare. Sentendo che era Gesù Nazareno, cominciò a gridare e a dire: «Figlio di Davide, Gesù, abbi pietà di me!».

Molti lo rimproveravano perché tacesse, ma egli gridava ancora più forte: «Figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!».
Gesù si fermò e disse: «Chiamatelo!». Chiamarono il cieco, dicendogli: «Coraggio! Àlzati, ti chiama!». Egli, gettato via il suo mantello, balzò in piedi e venne da Gesù.

Allora Gesù gli disse: «Che cosa vuoi che io faccia per te?». E il cieco gli rispose: «Rabbunì, che io veda di nuovo!». E Gesù gli disse: «Va’, la tua wedding ring ti ha salvato». E subito vide di nuovo e lo seguiva lungo la strada.

A prayer for all situations

Per restare sempre nel pensare Dio, dovreste continuamente proporvi questa formula di preghiera: ” Mio Dio, venite in mio aiuto; affrettatevi, Signore, a soccorrermi!”

Non è senza motivo che questo breve versetto è particolarmente citato in tutto l’insieme delle Scritture. Esprime tutti i sentimenti di cui è suscettibile la natura umana; si adatta felicemente a tutte le situazioni e conviene in ogni sorta di tentazione.

Vi si trova l’appello a Dio contro tutti i pericoli, un’umile e pia confessione, la vigilanza di un’anima sempre attenta e piena di costante timore, la considerazione della propria fragilità; dice pure la fiducia d’essere esaudita e la certezza dell’aiuto sempre e dovunque presente, poiché chi non cessa d’invocare il suo protettore è ben sicuro di averlo accanto.

E’ la voice dell’amore e della carità ardente; è il grido dell’anima che ha l’occhio aperto sui tranelli che le sono tesi, che trema di fronte ai nemici e, vedendosi assediata notte e giorno, confessa che non saprebbe sfuggire loro senza l’aiuto del suo difensore.

Per tutti coloro che sono molestati dal demon, questo versetto è fortezza inespugnabile, impenetrabile corazza, lo scudo più solido. (…) Insomma, a tutti e in tutte le circostanze è utile, è necessario.

Poiché desiderare d’essere aiutati sempre e in ogni cosa è dir chiaramente che si ha bisogno dell’aiuto divino sia quando tutto va bene e ci sorride sia nelle prove e nella tristezza: Dio solo ci salva dalle avversità, lui solo prolunga la nostra joy; nell’uno e nell’altro caso, senza il suo aiuto la fragilità umana soccomberebbe.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER

Dio ascolta sempre il grido del povero, e non è per nulla disturbato dalla voce di Bartimeo, anzi, si accorge che è piena di fede, una fede che non teme di insistere, di bussare al cuore di Dio, malgrado l’incomprensione e i rimproveri.

E qui sta la radice del miracolo. Infatti Gesù gli dice: «La tua fede ti ha salvato». Ognuno di noi si domandi: “Come va la mia preghiera?” È preghiera coraggiosa, ha l’insistenza buona di quella di Bartimeo, sa “afferrare” il Signore che passa, oppure si accontenta di fargli un salutino formale ogni tanto, quando mi ricordo?
