Il sangue di Jesus ci purifica da ogni peccato.

From the first letter of Saint John the Apostle
1Jn 1.5-2.2

Figlioli miei, questo è il messaggio che abbiamo udito da lui e che noi vi annunciamo: God è luce e in lui non c’è tenebra alcuna. Se diciamo di essere in comunione con lui e camminiamo nelle tenebre, siamo bugiardi e non mettiamo in pratica la verità.

Ma se camminiamo nella luce, come egli è nella luce, siamo in comunione gli uni con gli altri, e il sangue di Jesus, il Figlio suo, ci purifica da ogni peccato.

If we say we are without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just enough to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.

My children, I write these things to you so that you do not sin; but if anyone has sinned, we have a Paraclete presso il Father: Jesus Christ, il giusto. È lui la vittima di espiazione per i nostri peccati; non soltanto per i nostri, ma anche per quelli di tutto il mondo.

Herod sent to kill all the children who lived in Bethlehem.

From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 2:13-18

The Magi had just left, when an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said to him: «Get up, take the child and his mother with you, flee to Egypt and stay there until I warn you: in fact Herod wants to look for the child to kill him." He got up in the night, took the child and his mother and fled to Egypt, where he remained until the death of Herod, so that what had been said by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled:
"From Egypt I called my son."

When Herod realized that the Magi had made fun of him, he became furious and sent to kill all the children who lived in Bethlehem and throughout its territory and who were two years old and younger, according to the time he had learned exactly by the Magi. Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

"A cry was heard in Rama,
a cry and a great lament:
Rachele piange i suoi sons
and does not want to be consoled,
because I'm not anymore".

Today the mystery of the Passion begins

"When King Herod heard of the Savior's birth, he was troubled, and with him all Jerusalem" (Mt 2:3). (…) The myrrh of the Magi foreshadowed the mystery of passion: newborn babies are mercilessly killed. (…) What does this infanticide mean?

Perché un crimine così orribile? “Un segno strano è apparso in cielo – dicono Erode e i suoi consiglieri – ; indica certamente per i magi la venuta di un altro re”. Capisci, Erode, cosa sono questi segni precursori? (…) Se Jesus è signore delle stelle, non è forse al riparo dai tuoi attacchi? Tu credi di avere il potere di far vivere o morire, ma non hai nulla da temere da un essere così mite. God lo sottopone al tuo potere; perché cospirare contro di lui? (…)

Ma abbandoniamo il lutto, “il dolore amaro di Rachele che piange i suoi sons”, perché oggi il Sole di justice (Ml 3,20) dissipa le tenebre del male e diffonde la sua luce su tutto il creato, lui che assume la nostra natura umana. (…) In questa festa della natività “le porte della morte sono infrante, le barre di ferro sono spezzate” (Sal 107,16). (…)

For because of one man, Adam, death came; today salvation comes through a man (Rom 5:18). (…) After the tree of sin arises the tree of goodness, the cross. (…) Today the mystery of the Passion begins.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER

I bambini di Betlemme morirono a causa di Jesus. E Lui, Agnello innocente, sarebbe poi morto, a sua volta, per tutti noi. Il Figlio di God è entrato nel dolore degli uomini.

Non bisogna dimenticare questo. Quando qualcuno si rivolge a me e mi fa domande difficili, per esempio: “Mi dica, Father: perché soffrono i bambini?”, davvero, io non so cosa rispondere. Soltanto dico: “Guarda il Crocifisso: God ci ha dato il suo Figlio, Lui ha sofferto, e forse lì troverai una risposta”. […]

Soltanto guardando l’love of God che dà suo Figlio che offre la sua vita per noi, può indicare qualche strada di consolazione.

E per questo diciamo che il Figlio di God è entrato nel dolore degli uomini; ha condiviso ed ha accolto la morte; la sua Parola è definitivamente parola di consolazione, perché nasce dal pianto. (General audience, January 4, 2017)
