First Reading
My house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.
From the book of the prophet Isaiah
Is 56,1-3a.6-8
Thus says the Lord:
“Observe the law and practice the justice,
because my salvation is about to come,
my justice it's about to reveal itself."
Blessed is the man who does so
who keeps the Sabbath without profaning it,
which preserves his hand from all evil.
Let not the foreigner who has adhered to the Lord say:
«Of course, the Lord will exclude me from his people!».
“Foreigners, who have adhered to the Lord to serve him
and to love the name of the Lord,
and to be his servants,
how many are careful not to profane the Sabbath
and remain firm in my covenant,
I will lead them to my holy mountain
and I will fill them with joy in my house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
they will be welcome on my altar,
because my house will be called
house of prayer for all peoples".
Oracolo del Signore God,
who gathers the dispersed of Israel:
"I will gather still others,
beyond those already gathered.
Parola di God.
Responsorial Psalm
From Psalm 66 (67)
R. Ti lodino i popoli, o God, ti lodino i popoli tutti.
God abbia pietà di noi e ci benedica,
let his face shine upon us;
so that your way may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations. R.
Let the nations rejoice and rejoice,
because you judge the peoples justly,
you rule the nations on earth. R.
The earth has borne its fruit.
Ci benedica God, il nostro God,
ci benedica God e lo temano
all ends of the earth. R.
Gospel acclamation
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
Come, Lord, to visit us in peace,
because we can rejoice before you.
Alleluia.
Gospel
Giovanni was the lamp that burns and shines.

From the Gospel according to John
Jn 5:33-36
During that time, Jesus he said to the Jews:
“You sent messengers to John and he testified to the truth. I don't get testimony from a man; but I tell you these things that you may be saved. He was the lamp that burns and shines, and you only for a moment wanted to rejoice in the light of him.
But I have a testimony superior to that of John: the works that the Father has given me to do, those same works that I am doing, testify of me that the Father he sent me."

Sermon 62,261s; PL 57,537
"I will prepare a lamp for my anointed one" (Ps 132:17)
The Lord indicates who this lamp is by saying, regarding John the Baptist: «He is the lamp that burns and illuminates». And John himself says, as if it were the faint glimmer of a lantern that he carries in front of him: «But one is coming who is stronger than me, whose sandals I am not worthy to even untie: he will baptize you in Holy Spirit and fire" (Lk 3:16).
WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
Salvation is a gift oflove salvation is a giftlove and as such offered to human freedom. Always when it comes to love we talk about freedom: a love without freedom it is not love; it can be interest, it can be fear, many things, but thelove he is always free and being free he requires a free response: that is, he requires our conversion.
(Angelus, January 24, 2021)
