Switty was a little monkey who always threw a tantrum before going to sleep. When evening came, the mum he said to her: “Switty, look at the sky outside! It's all dark, the sun has long gone to sleep! We have to go to sleep too." Switty protested. “I don't want to go to bed! I always want to stay awake." Switty threw a tantrum every night and her dad, hers mum, her grandparents all called her "the little monkey who always wanted to stay awake". Ogni sera, Switty si addormentava sempre più tardi.
La mum stava per perdere la pazienza con la sua cucciola e le diceva: “Se vai a letto così tardi, al mattino sarà difficile alzarsi”. “Va bene, Switty, per questa sera facciamo come vuoi tu. Dal momento che non hai sonno, non dormire!”. La scimmietta che voleva stare sempre sveglia era felicissima.
Prima saltò sul letto della sua camera, dopo andò sul lettone della mum a fare le capriole, poi le venne in mente di correre un po’ tra la cucina, il corridoio e il bagno e fece una gara con il suo papà.
Dopo, le venne in mente di tirare fuori tutti i suoi giocattoli dell’armadio e di spargerli sul pavimento. Fece anche una lotta con i peluches: che confusione nella sua cameretta! Mom e papà avevano deciso di aspettare che Switty si stancasse da sola e non dissero nulla. La scimmietta che voleva stare sempre sveglia giocò e giocò ancora.
Quando le si chiusero gli occhi era sdraiata sul pavimento, tra peluche e costruzioni. Mom e papà la misero sul letto e andarono a dormire. Il mattino dopo, il sole era già alto nel cielo, il papà si era alzato per andare al lavoro e Switty dormiva. But now she felt lonely and didn't understand: why was the sun going to sleep? Why was it evening again? After dinner,the little monkey who always wanted to stay awake didn't want to play.
