Read and listen to our little prayer of April 10, 2023

Summary

Molti, semplicemente, pensano a Gesù come ad un personaggio mitologico e al racconto della resurrezione come ad una pia favoletta edificante.

Altri immaginano complotti e formulano ipotesi fantasiose sullo svolgimento dei fatti. Dobbiamo arrenderci all’evidenza: se la vita e la missione di Gesù, la sua passione, morte e resurrezione sono eventi storici, realmente accaduti, accogliere la testimonianza di chi li ha vissuti ci porta nella dimensione della fede. Ed è proprio su quella tomba vuota che si fonda tutta la nostra fede cattolica!

“Ed ecco, Gesù venne loro incontro e disse: «Salute a voi!». Ed esse si avvicinarono, gli abbracciarono i piedi e lo adorarono. Allora Gesù disse loro: «Non temete; andate ad annunciare ai miei fratelli che vadano in Galilea: là mi vedranno»”.

Se vuoi incontrare Gesù devi andare incontro ai fratelli. Se ti ripieghi su te stesso non incontrerai mai Gesù ma solo le tue mancanze. Incontrare Gesù però significa assumere nei suoi confronti la stessa postura dei Magi, dei pastori, dei veri discepoli che incontratolo lo adorano. Il gesto dell’adorazione è un gesto di grande intimità.

The #GospelofToday (Mt 28,8-15) ci fa rivivere l’incontro delle donne con Gesù risorto il mattino di Pasqua. Gesù le incontra mentre vanno ad annunciarlo. È bello questo: quando noi annunciamo il Signore, il Signore viene a noi. #Easter

In front of the empty tomb, the women felt amazement not because of an extraordinary vision, but on the contrary because they saw nothing where they thought there should have been something. [...] like women [...], (today's Christians) are called to recognize someone in the Invisible, the one who already in this form gives them the grace to address them, and to whom they can respond.

Sometimes the Lord reaches us and gives himself to us "as if absent": the first sign of the Resurrection is not an apparition, but an empty tomb... Where they had thought they would find a heavy stone, the women had found an open passage; they thought they would have a corpse to anoint, a body to hold and cry over, but they had discovered that "he is not here." Sometimes the Lord escapes us to get back on the road, disappoints our everyday searches to dialogue with the deepest hope that dwells in our hearts. He lets himself be met only after having created a deviation from our expectations.

Altre volte, come in questo testo, «ci viene incontro»: nella liturgia che viviamo come Chiesa, nella preghiera personale, nella vita di tutti i giorni… Si fa presente, ci permette di abbracciargli i piedi e sperimentare in pienezza la vicinanza del suo corpo risuscitato. Ci accoglie come una casa confortevole, ci riscalda e rigenera con la sua presenza.

In any case, both in the sign of the absence of missed encounters (the empty tomb) and in that of the presence of the encounters that have taken place (the Risen One who appears and lets himself be touched), the good news puts us back in a position to live fully: it rekindles that fear sane of those who know they have realities bigger than themselves in their hands; puts us back on the road towards our brothers; it sends us back to Galilee, to the origin.

"Fear and great joy": the greatest and truest happinesses always bring with them a little fear. The good news opens us up to a reality that surpasses us and we cannot control. "Go and announce to my brothers": the Lord puts fraternity relationships back at the center, allows us to clearly re-experience that we don't know what to do with a joy that is not shared. "Let them go to Galilee": the Lord asks us to return to the place of origin, to the moment in which we met him. To return to the truest center of our history, to the deepest measure of our desire.

He precedes us there, at the beginning, to set out together towards completion.
