Jean Paul Hernandez SJ's video of the commentary on the Gospel of March 5, 2023
Summary
From the Gospel according to Matthew
Mt 17,1-9
During that time, Jesus He took Peter and James and John his brother with him and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him.
Taking the floor, Peter said a Jesus: «Lord, it's good for us to be here! If you want, I'll make three huts here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." He was still speaking, when a bright cloud covered them with his shadow. And behold a voice from the cloud saying: «This is my Son, my beloved: in him I am well pleased. Listen to him."
When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were filled with great fear. But Jesus he approached, touched them and said: «Rise and do not be afraid». Looking up they saw no one, except Jesus Alone.
As they came down from the mountain, Jesus he commanded them, "Tell no one about this vision until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."
Word of the Lord.

Father Jean-Paul Hernandez comments on the Gospel of the Second Sunday of Lent and illustrates the iconography of the prophet Isaiah.
"During that time, Jesus he took with him Peter and James and John his brother and led them up a high mountain by themselves.”
Before the Passion Jesus he retires to the mountain to understand what his way of giving his life will be and confronts the Sacred Scripture.
Moses and Elijah experienced the passage through death: the first in the Red Sea, the second going up to heaven. Jesus he shines in the eyes of the disciples because he understood how to give life and he is radiant.
