Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary

O Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, we, in this hour of tribulation, have recourse to you. You are Mother, you love us and you know us: nothing is hidden from you about what we care about. Mother of mercy, many times we have experienced your provident tenderness, your presence that restores peace, so that you always guide us to Jesus, Prince of Peace.

But we have lost the way to peace. We have forgotten the lesson of the tragedies of the last century, the sacrifice of millions who died in the world wars. We have disregarded the commitments undertaken as a Community of Nations and we are betraying the dreams of peace of the peoples and the hopes of the young. We have fallen ill with greed, we have closed ourselves up in nationalist interests, we have allowed ourselves to be dried up by indifference and paralyzed by selfishness.

We have preferred to ignore God, live with our falsehoods, fuel aggression, take lives and accumulate weapons, forgetting that we are guardians of our neighbor and of our common home itself. We have torn apart the garden of the Earth with war, we have wounded the heart of our Father with sin, who wants us to be brothers and sisters. We have become indifferent to everyone and everything except ourselves. And with shame we say: forgive us, Lord!

In the misery of sin, in our struggles and fragility, in the mystery of iniquity of evil and war, you, Holy Mother, remind us that God does not abandon us, but continues to look at us with love, eager to forgive us and get us up again. It is He who gave us you and placed in your Immaculate Heart a refuge for the Church and for humanity. By divine goodness you are with us and even in the narrowest bends of history you lead us with tenderness.

So let us turn to you, let us, your dear children, knock on the door of your Heart, whom you never tire of visiting and inviting to conversion at all times. In this dark hour come to help and console us. Repeat to each of us: "Am I not here, who am your Mother?" You know how to untie the tangles of our heart and the knots of our time. We place our trust in you. We are certain that you, especially in the moment of trial, do not despise our pleas and come to our aid.

This is what you did in Cana of Galilee, when you hastened the hour of Jesus' intervention and introduced his first sign into the world. When the feast had turned into sadness you said to him: "They have no wine" (Jn 2:3). Repeat it again to God, O Mother, because today we have exhausted the wine of hope, joy has vanished, fraternity has been watered down. We have lost humanity, we have wasted the peace. We have become capable of all violence and destruction. We urgently need your maternal intervention.

Accept therefore, O Mother, this plea of ours.

You, star of the sea, don't let us be wrecked in the storm of war. You, ark of the new covenant, inspire projects and ways of reconciliation. You, "Earth of Heaven", bring God's harmony back to the world.

Extinguish hatred, appease vengeance, teach us forgiveness.

Deliver us from war, preserve the world from the nuclear threat. Queen of the Rosary, reawaken in us the need to pray and to love. Queen of the human family, she shows peoples the way of fraternity. Queen of peace, obtain peace for the world.

Your crying, O Mother, move our hardened hearts. The tears you shed for us make this valley that our hatred has dried up flourish again. And while the noise of weapons is not silent, your prayer disposes us to peace. May your maternal hands caress those who suffer and flee under the weight of the bombs. Your maternal embrace consoles those who are forced to leave their homes and their country. May your grieving Heart move us to compassion and impel us to open the doors and take care of wounded and discarded humanity.

Holy Mother of God, while you were under the cross, Jesus, seeing the disciple beside you, said to you: "Behold your son" (Jn 19:26): thus he entrusted each of us to you. Then to the disciple, to each one of us, he said: "Here is your mother" (v. 27). Mother, we now wish to welcome you into our lives and our history. In this hour humanity, exhausted and distorted, stands under the cross with you. And she needs to entrust herself to you, to consecrate herself to Christ through you. The Ukrainian people and the Russian people, who venerate you with love, have recourse to you, while your Heart beats for them and for all peoples decimated by war, hunger, injustice and misery.

We, therefore, Mother of God and ours, solemnly entrust and consecrate to your Immaculate Heart ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and the Ukraine. Welcome this act of ours that we perform with trust and love, make the war stop, provide the world with peace. The yes that came from your Heart opened the doors of history to the Prince of Peace; we trust that still, through your Heart, peace will come. To you therefore we consecrate the future of the entire human family, the needs and expectations of peoples, the anxieties and hopes of the world.

Through you are poured on the Earth the divine mercy and the sweet heartbeat of peace returns to mark our days. Woman of yes, on whom the Holy Spirit has descended, bring God's harmony back among us. Quench the thirst of our heart, you who "are a lively fountain of hope". You have woven humanity to Jesus, make us artisans of communion. You have walked our paths, guide us on the paths of peace. Amen.
